Mov­ing against the demise of pure Doc­u­men­tary, Hargeisa is a look back to Cinéma Vérité, Direct Cin­ema and the Kino-Pravda move­ment.
The film­maker trav­els alone to Soma­liland, to attempt an emo­tional char­ac­ter­i­sa­tion of the town of Hargeisa itself. The artis­tic process reveals the extremely con­tem­po­rary issues, elu­ci­dat­ing a much maligned region and people.
